11 Apr New Video – Female Charcoal Portrait Demo in 30 Minutes
I’ve been wanting to make drawing videos for YouTube for years now, and I finally took the first steps to making this idea a reality. I recorded this video with the intention to create a finished portrait in under 30 minutes. Why 30 minutes? Well working with a time limit helps keep you moving and trains you to make quick decisions. This also helps with avoiding getting stuck on the tiny details. I personally can get totally focused with one feature and can spend way too much time unnecessarily scratching at one spot to get it “perfect”. A time limit also keeps things interesting, for myself and for the audience.
Being my first video, I know it needs polishing. My lighting is off, the sound is off, and I’m not used to speaking while drawing. However, this is a big step for me because I finally started, and getting started is the hardest, and most important step of all. Enjoy the video.
