Shoreline Pompano

Acrylic on Wood

This is the first of my figures made on poplar wood.  Poplar is a much harder wood than pine, and has a very smooth surface which made it pleasure to paint on.   Unfortunately, being a harder wood meant that the cutting process took quite a bit longer.

This one of a kind pompano has a beautiful beach scene painted in acrylic.  It is meant to be the gulf coast, which is where this picture was taken.  I wanted to stick with the theme of painting the scene where these fish can be often caught.
